Smoki O’s Bar-B-Que

The staff at Smoki O’s are top notch.  When we arrived tired, hungry, and wet from the off and on downpours, Chris immediately worked to put us at ease.  His treatment of us lightened our minds and filled our bellies.

This is a joint.  Not fine dining, a joint.  There’s a formica(?) counter where you order your food and another where you can pull up a barstool to eat.   The place was clean and neat with a steady stream of customers ordering takeout.  Some of the menu items, such as snoot, are regional favorites that Chris was more than happy to let us sample.   The snoot is definitely worth a try.

IMG_1703We ordered pork ribs with sides of greens, cole slaw, potato salad, and baked beans.  Each order came with ~4 ribs and was plenty for one person.  The ribs were meaty and well seasoned.  The sauce was fairly sweet, so sweet in fact that I would have preferred the meat without any sauce.  Same goes for the sides.  The beans, cole slaw, and potato salad were far too sweet for my taste.

I don’t remember the exact cost but I believe it was $20-25 for two people with meals and drinks.

When all was said and done, we were so grateful for the recommendation.  Just think, we thought we’d have to leave Missouri without any barbeque.
