Traveling with Kids

Would you let you 8 year old sit alone between two strangers so you and your SO could sit together?

A couple on my flight did just that and I’m quite perplexed.  I offered up my seat to them so they could sit next to the kid.  They refused.

Huh?  I don’t understand.  Is this odd?

I personally don’t think I would do that, but I also don’t have an 8 year old. Maybe they were trying to give him or her a bit of independence? But it’s more likely that the kid would spend the plane ride annoying whoever they sat next to. lol.

The kid wasn’t annoying but the parents were. While the kid read his books and napped, the parents got in lots of PDA and scarfed down a party size bag of Doritos. Knowing that airlines don’t feed you, do you think they offered the kid any chips?

I would never do that. First of all I don’t trust any old body to look after my children. And that is just what they did. Pushed their responsibilities on complete strangers. My guess in this situation is that only one of them is the child’s biological parent. All caught up in his/her new love toy who probably doesn’t care very much for the child.
